CHSFL Players of the Week: Week 3 – 2012

Andrew Russo, RB, St. Joseph by the Sea

The junior running back rushed for 184 yards on 31 carries and scored three touchdowns in St. Joseph by the Sea’s come-from-behind 46-35 victory over Xaverian. Russo played both sides of the ball on Friday night as he was the lead blocker for a rushing attack that ran for 367 yards and 22 overall first downs.

Ryan McCann, RB, St. John the Baptist

McCann, a 5-11 218-pound junior, shined for the Cougars in his team’s 33-27 loss to St. Francis Prep on Saturday afternoon. On the ground McCann ran for 143 yards on 19 carries and scoring 2 touchdowns. He also added 2 catches for 36 yards.

Jordan Gowins, RB, St. Anthony’s

The St. anthony’s sophomore running back scored 3 touchdowns on 14 carries while rushing for 124 yards in the Friars’ 28-0 shutout victory over Holy Cross. In his first three varsity games, Gowins has scored 7 touchdowns. The win also gave head coach Rich Reichert his 212st career win, the most in Suffolk County history.
