The following football players earned CHSFL Player of the Week honors for Week 7:

Laray Smith, RB, Xaverian

Smith had 209 yards rushing on 9 carries and scored 3 TDs in a 53-12 victory over Holy Trinity. The 6-1, 190-pound senior running back helped the Clippers improve their record to 2-4 in league games.

Brandon Violante, G, St. Joseph by-the-Sea

Violante leads an offensive line that amassed almost 500 yards rushing against Fordham Prep and over 2,700 yards for the season. These numbers not only reflect his contribution but also the work ethic of the unit as a whole. The unit has helped St. Joseph by-the-Sea accrue a 6-1 record, good enough for fourth place in the CHSFL AAA playoff standings.

Greg Galligan, QB, St. Anthony’s

Gailligan accounted for three touchdowns in the Friars’ 34-12 over Mount St. Michael. The 6-0, 185-pound Cold Spring Harbor native threw a 63-yard TD strike and ran for scores of 30 and 25 yards.

Brandon Pelzer, RB/LB, Holy Cross

Pelzer, a junior from Rosedale, ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns in the Knights’ 28-7 win over Kellenberg on Saturday. On the defensive side, the 5-10, 210-pound linebacker also had a 41-yard interception return for a touchdown and recorded six tackles and two knockdowns.
