CHSFL Players of the Week: Week 9 – 2012

The following football players earned CHSFL Player of the Week honors for the first week’s CHSFL playoff action:

Chris Cooper, WR, Iona Prep: Iona Prep’s senior wide receiver caught eight passes for 179 yards and scored four touchdowns as the second-seeded Gaels cruised to an impressive 41-20 win over Xaverian in the CHFL ‘AAA’ Division quarterfinals. Cooper and his Iona Prep squad will face off with the third-ranked Chaminade Flyers in the semifinals.

Jackson Moses, DT, St. John the Baptist: The Cougars 6-foot-2, 249-pound defensive tackle shined on the defensive side of the ball with 9 tackles – 4 unassisted and two of them accounted for negative yardage. Moses also had two sacks, a fumble recovery and an interception return for a 60 yard touchdown in SJB’s convincing 62-7 victory over Holy Trinity.

John Antetomaso, WR, Kellenberg: The Firebirds’ feisty junior wide receiver returned two kickoffs for touchdowns of 90 and 91 yards respectfully. Antetomaso also had three catches for 60 yards and pulling in a touchdown reception in Kellenberg’s thrilling 42-41 overtime win over St. Francis. The Firebirds take on St. John the Baptist in the CHSFL ‘AA’ semifinals on Saturday.

Ryan Minlionica, QB, St. Joseph-by-the-Sea: The Vikings’ junior quarterback put up big numbers on the gorund and in the air in St. Joseph-by-the-Sea’s first ever ‘AAA’ playoff win. Minlionica rushed the ball 16 times for 96 yards and completed 6 of 10 passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
