CHSFL Players of the Week: Week 1 – 2013

Sean Cerrone, QB, Chaminade

The Flyers star quarterback orchestra a huge win for Chaminade over Kellenberg in Week 1 both on the ground and in the air. Cerrone was 6-7 passing for 201 yards and three touchdowns, while on the gorund he rushed for 130 yards on seven carries and two scores.

Malik Crossdale, RB, Fordham Prep

Crossdale, a 6-foot 195-pound senior from the Bronx had a stellar game in the Rams’ Week 1 victory over St. John the Baptist. The running back gained 247 yards on 25 carries and had six runs for double-digit yardage. He also scored three touchdowns on runs of 13, 18 and 56 yards.

Will Solomon, RB/FS. Xavier

Last year’s CHSFL Offensive Player of the Year, Solomon carried the ball 31 times for 253 yards, averaging 8.1 yards per carry. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back scored all four rushing touchdowns for Xavier and accounted for 28 of his team’s 35 points. On the other side of the ball, Solomon accounted for six tackles, four assists and a fumble recovery.

Jordan Franklin, LB/RB, Holy Cross

Franklin rushed 11 times for 121 yards for Holy Cross in a 38-16 win over Kingston High School. On the defensive side of the ball he had 13 tackles and caused two fumbles to drive the Knights to a Week 1 victory.

James Esposito, QB, Bishop Ford

In his first varsity start, Esposito went 10-for-18 and threw for 152 yards and 2 touchdown passes. With eight minutes remaining in the game and Bishop Ford and St.t PEter’s tied at 18-18, Esposito drove the Falcons 70 yards all through the air and hit Rodney Gonzales for a 46-yard strike on a 4th-and-2 for the winning score.
