Its an all Westchester Final. #3 Iona defeated defending champion #2 St. Anthony’s, 28-10, to advance to the AAA league Championship game. It will be the Gaels first appearance in the league championship game since it lost to the Friars, 41-23, in the 2010 final. Archbishop Stepinac will return to the Championship game after handily defeating #4 St. Peter’s, 56-0. The top seeded Crusaders look to capture their first league crown since it shared the title with St. Francis in 1955. Iona looks to recapture the title it last held in 2008. It will be the first league championship game not to involve the Friars of St. Anthony’s since 1998.
The battle for the Michael Cunnion Trophy, which is awarded to the league champion, will be played Saturday, November 22 at Coffey Field on the Campus of Fordham University. Game time is 4:30 pm. Tickets will be sold at Iona and Stepinac beginning Tuesday. Tickets are $7.00 in advance and $10.00 at the gate.
