The players of the week from Week #1 (Sept 11 & 12th) have been selected. Four Students atheltes from four different schools were selected for their outstanding performance.
Rodney N’gussen FB/DL – Cardinal Spellman Pilots
Rodney helped the Pilots to a 38-25 league win over Kennedy Catholic with 2 rushing TD’s and 220 yards on 20 carries. Rodney also turned in a strong defensive performance with 8 tackles in the win.
Christian Anderson QB – Cardinal Hayes
Christian led Cardinal Hayes to a 37-14 non league win over Westchester power Cornwall. In the win Christian was 10-15 for 274 yards and 3 TD’s.
Steve Viegas RB – Monsignor Farrell
Steve helped lead the Lions to a convincing 38-17 win over the St. Joe’s Marauders from the Monsignor Martin Conference in Buffalo. In the game Steve eclipsed the 200 yard mark with 201 yards on 27 carries, 3 of those carries ended up in the endzone as touchdown runs.
Nicholas Maldarella K – St. John the Baptist
Nicholas was as cool as the other side of the pillow in the Cougars 20-17 Overtime triumph over the visiting Vikings of St. Joe’s by the Sea. Nick converted a 35 Yard FG in overtime which ended up being the difference in the game, earlier in regulation Nick also converted a 30 yard FG and was 2/2 on Extra Point Attempts.
