Monsignor Matthew Peters Award Finalists Announced

The NYCHSFL announced the finalists for the Monsignor Peters Award today.  The Monsignor Peters Award is given to one player who has archived the highest academic level among the players of the NYCHSFL.   In addition all of the finalists contributed significantly on the field as well as academically.  The award was instituted in 1964 in memory of Monsignor Matthew Peters who was a driving force behind the founding of the NYCHSFL in 1953.  In 2009 the NYCHSFL added the Golden Eleven Award which is given to eleven of the finalists for the Monsignor Peters Award.

This years finalists are;

Daniel Negron (Archbishop Stepinac)
Ryan Westerhaus (St Anthony’s)
Justin Covington (Cardinal Hayes)
Alexander Bracco (St Francis Prep)
The Golden Eleven awards and the Monsignor Peters Award will be awarded at the Championship Awards Breakfast at Kellenberg Memorial High School on Sunday, December 6th.  Mass will begin at 9:30am followed by breakfast and the awards ceremony.  Tickets are $15.00 and may be purchased at member schools.  Parents, coaches and players must present a ticket for admission.  Tickets will not be sold at the door.
