Island Victorious Over City 21-14 in 2015 CHSFL Senior Bowl

In an exciting game the Island All-Stars overcame a halftime deficit and defeated the City All-Stars 21-14 Sunday at Mitchel Field. Ahmad Hernandez’s (Christ the King) 1 yard touchdown run late in the 3rd quarter ended up being the game winner for the Island Team.  The Island team opened up the scoring in the game when Quarterback Tom Walsh connected with his teammate from St. Anthony’s James Pryor for a 20 yard touchdown pass.  Team NYC responded quickly with a pair of Brian Vigo (Cardinal Hayes) to Brendan Lieberman (Monsignor Farrell) Touchdown passes, first a 9 yard pass to tie the game after a Liam Butler (Archbishop Stepinac) extra point and then a 22 yard hookup to take a 14-7 lead into the half.  Tom Walsh (St. Anthony’s) got the Island back on the board after a 1 yard QB sneak into the endzone and the Nick Malderella kick tied the game at 14 apiece.  The Island teams defense held strong in the 4th quarter to shut the comeback attempts from the City team.
