CHSFL Players of the Week: Week 7 – 2013

The following players earned Player of the Week honors from Week 7 action of CHSFL football: Patrick Williams, DB, Holy Trinity – Patrick Williams had nine solo tackles in Holy Trinity’s victory over CHSFL opponent Monsignor Farrell. He ealso had six assists, four tackles for a loss and two sacks. Odean Gilzene, DT, Jr. Mount St. Michael – Odean had quite a game in Mount St. Michael’s 36-7 win over Kellenberg. The junior defensive tackle returned an interception for 87 yards and had a sack and three solo tackles. Sean Wade, TE/LB, Jr. Bishop Ford – Sean led the defense from his inside linebeacker position with eight tackles, two for losses.  He also scored on a 44-yard reception in the second quarter in the Falcons 52-8 win over Nazareth. CHSFL Players of the Week: Week 6 – 2013

The following players earned Player of the Week honors from Week 6 action of CSHFL football: Bryan Sinclair, ATH/DB/RET, Sr. St. John the Baptist – Sinclair did a little of everything in the Cougars win over Cardinal Spellman. The Sr. all-purpose football plater had six rushes for 50 yards and a touchdown, four catches for 82 yards and a touchdown, and two kick returns for 148 yards which set up two touchdowns on the next two plays. Defensively, Sinclair had five tackles (three solo and two assisted). Tariq Oliver, RB, Sr. St. Francis Prep – During Prep’s 28-27 win over Xavier, Oliver carried the ball eight times for 50 yards, including a two-yard rush for a score right before the half. CHSFL Players of the Week: Week 5 – 2013

The following players earned Player of the Week honors from Week 5 action of CSHFL football: James McHale, Sr. QB, Fordham Prep In a losing effort against Cardinal Hayes, McHale, a senior quarterback completed 26 of 42 passes for 303 yards and two touchdowns. On the ground he also acculumated 24 yards rushing. He achieved all-conference honors as a junior who also plays basketball. James Esposito, Jr. QB, Bishop Ford Esposito, a 6-foot-1 junior competed 16 of 26 passes for 278 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead Bishop Ford to a 42-26 win over Kellenberg. Two of his touchdowns were thrown to Rodney Gonzalez, while the other came to Quamari McAllister. Esposito leads the CHSFL with 10 touchdown passes and is second in passing yards with 976. CHSFL Players of the Week: Week 4 – 2013

The following football players earned CHSFL Player of the Week honors for Week 4: Rodney Gonzalez, Sr., SB, Bishop Ford Gonzalez, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound senior caught six passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns. Not only did the Bishop Ford slot back excel in receiving yards, he also accumulated 50 yards on the ground on ten carries. Through four games Gonzalez has compiled 360 receiving yards and 190 yards on the ground. Shaka Shomari, Jr., RB, Holy Trinity Shomari exploded on the scene at Mitchel Field during a 41-19 Week 4 win over Kellenberg Memorial. The dynamic running back rushed for 144 yards on 13 carries and notched three touchdowns in the win. In the three games prior, Shomari rushed for -10 yards on 7 carries. CHSFL Players of the Week: Week 3 – 2013

The following football players earned CHSFL Player of the Week honors for Week 3: Kasim Thomas, QB/DB, Mount St. Michael The senior captain had 11 rushes for 114 yards and a 74 yard touchdown run in the Mountaineers’ 26-19 win over St. John the Baptist. He also went 2-for-3 passing for 52 yards with both completions going for touchdowns — one of 16 yards and another of 36 yards. Defensively, he was in on many pass break-ups and had two solo tackles and two assists. Dante Aiken, RB, Bishop Ford Aiken, a 5-9, 185-pound senior, had 21 carries for 220 yards and three touchdowns (of 30, 18 and 12 yards) vs. Christ the King this past weekend, playing through a hip pointer and a bruised shoulder. Aiken now has 468 yards on the year. Dante also runs track and has been timed in under 4.55 seconds for the 40-yard dash.

CHSFL Players of the Week: Week 2 – 2013

The following football players earned CHSFL Player of the Week honors for Week 2: Joe Sotomayor, LB, St. Anthony’s The Friars senior captain played what his coaches saiad was his best game of his two-year career. Sotomayor registered 11 tackles and four for a loss against Holy Trinity. Brandon Coleman, QB, Stepinac Coleman, a 5-foot-10 160-pound quarterback led the Crusaders offense to a big day over Xavier. He went 13-for-14 in completed passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-3 win over the Knights. Lawson Prendergast. RB/LB, St. John the Baptist Prendergast was proficient on both sides of the ball in St. John the Baptist’s Week 2 win over Xaverian. On offense he had 6 carries for 123 yards and two touchdowns, while on defense he registered seven tackels, one sack and one interception. Rob Speranza, RB, Chaminade Speranza spurred Chaminade to a 22-7 win over Iona Prep.

CHSFL Players of the Week: Week 1 – 2013

Sean Cerrone, QB, Chaminade The Flyers star quarterback orchestra a huge win for Chaminade over Kellenberg in Week 1 both on the ground and in the air. Cerrone was 6-7 passing for 201 yards and three touchdowns, while on the gorund he rushed for 130 yards on seven carries and two scores. Malik Crossdale, RB, Fordham Prep Crossdale, a 6-foot 195-pound senior from the Bronx had a stellar game in the Rams’ Week 1 victory over St. John the Baptist. The running back gained 247 yards on 25 carries and had six runs for double-digit yardage. He also scored three touchdowns on runs of 13, 18 and 56 yards. Will Solomon, RB/FS. Xavier Last year’s CHSFL Offensive Player of the Year, Solomon carried the ball 31 times for 253 yards, averaging 8.1 yards per carry.
