The following football players earned CHSFL Player of the Week honors for Week 2:
Zach Kearney, QB/DB, Xaverian HS
The senior quarterback carried the ball 35 times for 237 yards and scored 3 touchdowns in the Clippers’ 31-28 victory over Archbishop Stepinac. Kearney, a 2011 CHSFL Offensive Player of the Year finalist, accounted for over 275 yards of total offense and played a part in 28 of Xaverian’s 31 total points.
Dante Aiken, RB, Bishop Ford HS
Dante Aiken, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound running back from Bishop Ford HS had 21 carries for 151 yards and scoring 4 touchdowns Saturday afternoon. In the Falcons’ 43-6 victory over Christ the King, Aiken scored all of his team’s points in the first half
Lakeith Celestain, WR/DHB, Holy Cross HS
Lakeith Celestain had a flair for the dramatic Sunday afternoon. He caught a game-winning 31-yard touchdown pass with ten seconds left to lift Holy Cross to a dramatic 20-14 win over Mount St. Michael’s. The 6-1 senior also added a dramatic 83-yard interception return for a score with 19 seconds left in the first half.
