The following football players earned CHSFL Player of the Week honors for Week 6:
Christian Turri, RB/DB, St. John the Baptist
Turri, the Cougars running back/defensive back, excelled on both sides of the ball in a 36-14 win over Christ the King. The 5-10, 170 pound senior rushed for 154 yards on seven carries while scoring two touchdowns on the offensive side of things, while on defense Turri had seven tackles (4 solo, 3 assisted) and notched two interceptions in the victory.
Glen Kartalis, WR/CB, St. Peter’s
Kartalis, a 5-foot-10, 145-pound senior wide receiver shined for the Eagles despite his team falling 27-26 to Cardinal Hayes. The Staten Island-native had 4 rushes for 56 yards, 5 receptions for 122 yards and 1 touchdown, good for 178 all-purpose yards. On the defensive side of the ball, he notched five solo tackles with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Nick Rizzo, WR, Kellenberg Memorial
Kellenberg’s senior wide receiver sparked the Firebirds in a 20-17 victory over Fordham Prep last weekend. Rizzo had five receptions for a game-high 253 yards with a touchdown. His 96-yard slant set up the winning score in the victory.
Michael Caddigan, LB, Holy Trinity
Caddigan, a 5-foot-10 200-pound linebacker was a strong defensive presence in Holy Trinity’s 22-21 win over Holy Cross. The stand out junior had 14 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for a loss with a fumble recover. Caddigan also had 3 special team tackles in the win to improve the Titans to 3-3 overall on the year
