CHSFL Players of the Week: 2013 Playoffs, Round 1

The following players earned Player of the Week honors from the CHSFL quarterfinals: Tim Poindexter, RB, So., Cardinal Hayes – Poindexter had 340 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries in his team’s 41-20 victory against Fordham Prep. He also made a score-saving tackle on an interception, and Hayes got the ball back on a turnover two players later. As a student, he has also received first honors. Albert Sutton, RB/LB, Sr. Mount St. Michael – In Mount’s 34-0 CHSFL quarterfinal win over Bishop Ford, Sutton accounted for 26 points, including and four touchdowns and 140 yards on 19 carries and a two-point conversion. The senior also played a solid game on defense at linebacker, helping his team shut out Bishop Ford. Steven Bradley, LB/RB, Sr. St. Peter’s – The senior outside linebacker had four sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and six other tackles for loss in St. Peter’s quarterfinal win

CHSFL Players of the Week: Week 9 – 2013

The following players earned Player of the Week honors from Week 9 action: Christopher Monfre, LB/FB, Jr., Holy Cross – Monfre caught an 85-yard touchdown pass and also rushed three times for 31 yards in a win over Kellenberg. 22 of those 31 yards came on Holy Cross’ game-clinching final drive. On defense, Monfre made nine tackles. Jonathan Joseph, CB, Sr., St. Francis Prep – In the Terriers’ 49-32 vs. Bishop Ford on Saturday, “JJ” had four tackles and three interceptions, with the last one going for a 97-yard return for a touchdown. It was only JJ’s second game back after missing five weeks with a broken collarbone. Brian Harris, C/DE, Sr. Archbishop Stepinac – Harris, a three-year starter and two-year captain for the Crusaders, never came off the field in an important 28-14 win over St. Joseph by-the-Sea, which moved Stepinac into the No. 4 seed in the AAA playoffs with a

CHSFL Players of the Week: Week 8 – 2013

The following players earned CHSFL Player of the Week honors for Week 8: Shakur “Speedy” Bey, QB, Jr., Nazareth – Shakur was key on both side of the ball, going 5-for-10 for 110 yards with a touchdown at quarterback, rushing for 130 yards with a touchdown and a two-point conversion and making 10 tackles (6 solo) with a forced fumble and an interception on defense. Greg Galligan, QB, Sr. St. Anthony’s – Galligan was 13-for-15 for 145 yards and a touchdown through the air, adding 28 yards on seven carries and a rushing touchdown as the Friars defeated archrival Chaminade. Michael Greene, LB, Jr. Kellenberg – Green had eight tackles (two for a loss) and two interceptions in Kellenberg’s win over Christ the King.
