Players of the Week – Week #2

Players of the Week – Week #2 Tyler Zanghi (St. Peter’s – Sr./RB/WR):  The key to completeing a upset against a heavy favorite is to immediately strike coming out of the half.  Tyler Zanghi’s 72-yard touchdown run and two-point PAT conversion did just that.  The stunning run gave St. Peter’s a 27-13.  When the final whistle ended the game St. Peter’s had a 39-19 victory over perinial CHSFL powerhouse Chaminade.  In the game Tyler scored twice and rushed for 149 yards on 12 carries. Jesse Clara (Kellenberg – Sr./DB/RB): Jesse Clara had 181 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns in Kellenberg’s 28-14 win over Holy Trinity.  Clara rushed for 78 on 22 carries and a touchdown.  Clara tallied 85 yards on 9 receptions and a touchdown.  On specials Clara added 18 yards on one kickoff return. Players of the Week – Week #1

Malcolm Major (Archbishop Stepinac- RB):  Captain Malcolm Major, a three year starter at RB for the Crusaders, had 16 carries for  113 yards, 2 receptions for 24 yards, a 25 yard punt return.  Malcolm was a workhorse for Crusaders , helping them beat the Massachusetts defending champions, Mansfield,  42-7. Shakur “Speedy” Bey (Nazareth – Sr./QB):  The nickname says it all.  Skakur “Speedy” Bey ran past and threw past the Dickinson defense and infiltrated their offense to led Nazareth to its opening game win.  “Speedy” the QB was 12 of 19 for 243 yards and 5 touchdowns.  Speedy the “RB” rushed for 75 yards and one touchdown.  On Defense “Speedy” had five solo tackles and one interception.  On specials “Speedy” totaled 105 yards in returning both punts and kickoffs.  On the day “Speedy” amassed 423 total yards in Nazareth’s 50-18 win over Dickinson. BLITZ COVERAGE: St. Peter’s Tyler Zanghi is the player of the week (poll) From SILive: St. Peter’s had Chaminade on the ropes and Tyler Zanghi delivered the knockout blow.
