Tickets for CHSFL Championship Games will go on sale at particpating schools beginning Tuesday. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $7.00 or at the gate for $10.00. A ticket is required for admission. Please note there is an additional parking fee for Fordham University.
Next Saturday, November 21st the CHSFL of Metropolitain New York will host three championship games. The schedule for the championship games is as follows; A Championship at Mitchel Athletic Complex (11:00 AM) – (1) Xaverian v. (2) Cardinal Spellman AA Championship at Mitchel Athletic Complex (2:00 PM) – (1) Christ the King v. (2) Xavier AAA League Championship at Fordham University (6:30 PM) – (1) Archbishop Stepinac v. (2) Cardinal Hayes
By Kevin A’Hearn; Cardinal Spellman defeated St. Dominic to advance to the CHSFL A title game for the first time since 2008. The second seeded Pilots defeated the third seeded Bayhawks 30-6. The win sets up a third meeting between Spellman and Xaverian this year. Spellman will look to reverse the results of its first two meeting and capture its third A title in school history. The A Championship game will start at 11:00 am this Saturday, November 21st at the Mitchel Athletic Complex. Tickets for the game may be purchased at Cardinal Spellman and Xaverian in advance for $7.00 or at the gate for $10.00.
By Kevin A’Hearn; For the third time in the past five years the Crusaders of Archbishop Stepinac have advanced to the AAA Championship game. This year the Crusaders will look to defend their CHSFL league title against the Cardinals of Cardinal Hayes. Top seeded Stepinac left no doubt they would return to the league championship by soundly defeating fifth seeded St. Peter’s 49-7. The championship game will be played next Saturday, November 21 at Fordham University. Game time is 6:30 PM. Tickets may be purchased in advance at Stepinac and Hayes for $7.00 or at the gate for $10.00.
By Kevin A’Hearn The march to the 2015 AAA final for Cardinal Hayes has worked its way through every level of the CHSFL. Along the way the Cardinal’s have played for A titles and AA titles. The march has seen its share of successes and failures but the 2015 Cardinal Hayes football team has reached the pinnacle of the CHSFL and puts the Cardinal’s on the verge of their first CHSFL league championship since 1970. The road to the championship game took an unexpected turn with the passing of teammate Delano Cowan this week. But in his memory the Cardinals pulled together and mustered enough strength to hold off CHSFL perennial power St. Anthony’s 44-39. The win propels the second seeded Cardinals to their first ever appearance in the League Championship game and a matchup with either defending champion #1 Archbishop Stepinac or fellow upstart #5 St. Peter’s.
