ARCHBISHOP STEPINAC 2015 NYSCHSAA FOOTBALL STATE CHAMPIONS

Archbishop Stepinac captured the NYSCHSAA football state title by defeating St. Francis 42-28.  The Crusaders survived a comeback by the Red Raiders, who battle back from a 28-0 deficit to pull with in seven before Stepinac sealed the win, to take the title.  It was a sucessful return trip to the state title game for the Crusaders who lost in the annugural game to Canisius 23-10.  The state championship puts the finishing touches on 12-0 season and helps solidify Stepinac claim to #1 in the New York State Sportswriters Association poll. St. Francis’ CB Brandon Metz was selected Defensive MVP and Stepinac QB, Tyquell Fields, was named Offensive MVP.
