While no one will disagree that the true meaning of Thanksgiving is a celebration of family, friends, and good fortune, in the NYCHSFL it possesses an equally great purpose; many a time it is the day that we bid a fond fair well to some of our most accomplished and cherished student-athletes.  2017 proved no different as between the 94th and 75th anniversaries of the Turkey Bowl games played between Fordham Prep/Xavier and Cardinal Hayes/Mount St. Michael Academy, the downstate Catholic football faithful said goodbye and banked away another afternoon of memories  for six returning All-League players, three of whom earned the distinction of being named All-State during the first three years of their respective careers (Note: many will repeat and fresh faces will surely be added when the 2017 list is released at a later date).
