Presented in the name of League Founder, Monsignor Matthew Peter, the award for Student-Athlete of the Year is the most heralded/renowned prize that an individual can receive…
The time-honored tradition of the trophy dating back to its inaugural recipient in 1962 (World famous Ophthalmologist, Thomas Liesegang; Chaminade); the “Peters” has come to be regarded as a bridge and/or pipeline to a future of both educational and professional prosperity…
The list of winners reading like a chronicle of one success story after another; selections have included multiple doctors (such as Liesegang), several U.S. Naval Offices (ex- Liam Brown; 2018; Chaminade; USNA), a U.S. Naval Pilot (Brandon Coleman; 2014; Archbishop Stepinac; USNA), an NFL player (Caraun Reid; 2008; Mount St. Michael Academy; Princeton); a present-day Florida judge (Kevin Hellmann; 1983; Cardinal Spellman; Harvard University); and a wealth of captains of industry in the fields of finance, banking, investment, and whatnot!!
The esteemed gentlemen that have paved this road holding degrees from the most elite and prestigious institutions in the country—Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, Tufts, Bowdoin, Vanderbilt, College of the Holy Cross, Boston College, Amherst, Duke, Villanova, etc…To stand in this company is to “inherit a proverbial winning lottery ticket” at the age of 17 or 18!!!
And it is with this sentiment in mind that we rejoice in revealing that the exemplary fellow who will forever carry on this legacy is none other than Xaverian two-way player, Jaiden Cadotte!!!
______________________________________________________________
Cadotte: Also the recipient of the “Vince O’Connor” Metro Catholic AA-II Defensive Player of the Year award; everything in life has come up “Aces” for the Clipper senior, as we sit in awe and amazement at what he has achieved both in the classroom and on the gridiron…
Experiencing nothing but title-game appearances in each of the past three years; the 6’4, 240-pound resident of Brooklyn clamed hardware on the Junior Varsity and Varsity levels in 2022 and 2024 (sandwiched around a runner-up finish in ‘23)…
Like a bona fide leader is called upon to do; in his swan song season, he would perform at his best when the stakes were the highest, as he logged two sacks and was responsible for fostering two turnovers (initiated an INT with a pass tip; was on the back-end of a tipped pass to haul in the interception) en route to being named as the Defensive MVP of Championship weekend…His clutch effort on November 23rd emphatically capped off a campaign in which he amassed 29 stops, 8 sacks (division-high), and 5 pass break-ups/defenses for a unit that surrendered just a hair over 10 points per game against Double-A-2 rivals this fall….
His victories in the classroom far exceeding anything that a person can achieve in the realm of sport; Cadotte has continually held himself to an impeccable standard and demanded the caliber of excellence that warrants respect, adulation, and recognition…
Having enrolled in 12 Honors and nine Advanced Placement courses, this strapping standout with a body of “Hercules” and the mind of “Socrates” ranks in the top-10 of his graduating class with a cumulative grade point average of 100.7 (102 weighted)…
As if this feat was not already remarkable on its own accord; he’d further demonstrate his 1% status when on the two predominantly utilized standardized tests in America—The SAT and the ACT, he’d record respective scores of 1540 and 35 (out of a possible perfect score of 36)!!!
The destination/setting of his next chapter of brilliance still to be determined; there is no “wrong choice” among Cadotte’s options as he has applied to creme de la creme programs– Columbia, the University of Notre Dame, Yale, Duke University, Harvard, Villanova, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (making a huge push on the recruiting from to secure his services)…
Assured to thrive and make us proud no matter the locale; should Cadotte land at any one of the Ivies, he will extend the streak of consecutive Peters honorees to four as our 2021-2023 selections—Scott Becker (2021; Iona Prep), Jack Donahoe (2022; Archbishop Stepinac), & Edward Palumbo (2023; Archbishop Stepinac) currently matriculate and compete collegiately at Princeton, Harvard, and Yale!!!
Per available record, Cadotte is believed to be the first Clipper to have “Peters” prestige bestowed upon him!!!
