New York States #2 Ranked Stepinac & #6 Ranked Iona Prep Prepare to Battle this Saturday at Fordham University’s Coffey Field for the NYCHSFL AAA Title Kickoff is at 4:30 PM

In this weeks edition of the New York States Sports Writers Association rankings Stepinac is ranked 2nd while Iona Prep is ranked 6th.  They will play on Saturday at 4:30 PM for the downstate CHSFL AAA Title. A matchup with New York States #1 overall team Canisius (Buffalo) may be on the line. They have been ranked #1 for most of the season and will play Bishop Timon St. Jude for the upstate Monsignor Martin Association Title next weekend, the game was pushed back due to the snow in Buffalo. In the first year of the Downstate vs Upstate Catholic Title game which will be played on December 6th it looks like a #1 ranking and New York State supremacy may be on the line. Finally healthy, Xaverian is getting hot leading up to playoffs

From Brooklyn Daily Eagle: In recent weeks it has been a challenge for the Xaverian football team to even field a team. While the team has 32 players when everyone is healthy, only 25 players dressed against Fordham Prep late last month, again decreasing to 15 players two weeks ago against Kennedy Catholic. Luckily, the Clippers got some of their injured players back in time for its matchup against Nazareth. Stepinac Climbs to #2 in New York State Sportswriters Poll

 Archbishop Stepinac rated 1st in the Leagues Power Points is now also ranked #2 in New York State in the latest NYSSWA Poll following a win over perennial power St. Anthony’s last Friday night.  Also representing the league in this poll are Iona Prep and Saint Peters. Kellenberg debuted in the rankings this week following its win over Fordham Prep at #18 in the Class A Poll for New York State. Iona Prep had lost the week before to archrival Stepinac in a game the Gaels seemed to run out of steam in, but after reviewing their tape and scouting the Friars, Iona Prep felt it would perform well in the crucial CHSFL battle. St. Anthony’s tops Chaminade in ‘AAA’ Championship Rematch

O’Donnell leads Friars’ strong defense in win

From MSG Varsity:  That’s the trouble with rising to the challenge of being thought of as a “no-name” defense. Pretty soon everybody knows your name. So it was cheers for the St. Anthony’s ‘D’ Friday night. Lunarola’s late TD reception propels Monsignor Farrell over Chaminade
