The following players earned CHSFL Player of the Week honors for Week 8:
Shakur “Speedy” Bey, QB, Jr., Nazareth – Shakur was key on both side of the ball, going 5-for-10 for 110 yards with a touchdown at quarterback, rushing for 130 yards with a touchdown and a two-point conversion and making 10 tackles (6 solo) with a forced fumble and an interception on defense.
Greg Galligan, QB, Sr. St. Anthony’s – Galligan was 13-for-15 for 145 yards and a touchdown through the air, adding 28 yards on seven carries and a rushing touchdown as the Friars defeated archrival Chaminade.
Michael Greene, LB, Jr. Kellenberg – Green had eight tackles (two for a loss) and two interceptions in Kellenberg’s win over Christ the King.
Matthew Tierney, K, Archbishop Stepinac – Tierney set a new Stepinac record by going 5-for-5 on field goal attempts in Stepinac’s 36-0 win over rival Fordham Prep. Matt made kicks from 34, 26, 25, 23 and 22 yards out. He was also 3-for-3 on extra points and handled kickoff duties. Tierney is 27-for-31 on extra points this year.
