IONA PREP 2024 NYSCHSAA FOOTBALL CHAMPS

2024 Turkey Bowl Recap

XAVIER-28; FORDHAM PREP-0 Playing inspired football on both ends, it would be the Dom DeFalco mentored Knights snapping a four-game losing streak in the 101st rendition of the historic rivalry when they emerged as 28-0 victors over the Rams of Fordham Prep on a miserably rainy Thanksgiving morning… The clock at the end of the 1st half being the only element that could stop their vaunted single-wing running attack during the opening 24 minutes of actions, Xavier would do all the damage necessary as it was a natural hat trick from strapping 6’2, 235-pound Jackson Lent that enabled them to successfully culminate their first four consecutive possessions of the day After a pass break-up (almost INT) by Maxwell Wyckoff on 3rd down generated a short punt to the FP 40 on the opening drive, it would be senior RB/WR, Aydin Mora, registering his 7th rushing down of the 2024 when

Salute to the 2024 MVPs

AA-2: Xaverian Clippers OFFENSE: Richie Aiken (So.; RB/CB) Responsible for the only two touchdowns of the game scored by the Clippers, the 5’8, 150-pound super sophomore [Aiken] got the job accomplished in every facet possible this past Saturday in vaulting the Brooklyn based program to their first Metro Catholic brass ring since 2015 behind a 14-6 victory over top-seeded Holy Cross!! Building off of the career-high 181 yards (8 carries) he collected one week prior in the semifinals; things did not come quite as easily in the AA-2 finale for the young stud in the #20 jersey (usually wears #25); but he was effective when he needed to be, as he unofficially chewed up 61 yards on 17 carries, including a key ground score!!! Very much a THREE-WAY player who rarely (if ever) was spotted on the sidelines taking a rest, Aiken’s first TD of the game (to break a

2024 AAA Champions Iona Prep Gaels

Article by Matt Diano Forget the Brady Brunch…In New Rochelle, the “Spags Bunch” has DAVIS, DAVIS, DAVIS, DAVIS!! On an afternoon where the PAT/2-point conversion (1-for-7) was the only element of the game not executed with perfection by Iona Prep (10-2), it would be the top-seeded Gaels utilizing a dominant second half effort to complete a season sweep of the #2 Friars of St. Anthony’s (8-4), 43-22, in the NYCHSFL Triple-A title contest at the Mitchel Athletic Complex!! The triumph by the Maroon and Gold juggernaut (ranked 1st in NYS by MaxPreps), which snapped a two-year drought (loss 50-18 to STA in 2022; 30-29 last season to Cardinal Hayes) in Metro Catholic finale, marked the eight overall crown that has been delivered to Wilmot Road since 1964!!! IP enjoying a narrow 18-15 edge with approximately 6:49 remaining in the 3rd quarter, whatever flavor Gatorade the highly-touted Junior RB, Crew Davis,

2024 AA2 Champions – Xaverian Clippers

Article by Matt Diano What A Difference a Year Makes…What a Difference Five Weeks Makes!!! The last time that the second-seeded Clippers of Xaverian traveled to the Mitchel Athletic Complex in late-November to play in a Metro Catholic title contest, they found themselves taking the hike back to Brooklyn as a defeated and/or beaten group following a 34-3 loss in the 2023 AA-2 finale to Mount St. Michael Academy… When they last squared off with their rivals from Queens, Holy Cross, they fell 20-13 during a week #7 melee… The skeletons/demons associated with each of these shortcomings were exercised/silenced earlier today as the Kevin Fountaine guided program claimed the school’s third overall NYCHSFL title (first since winning the “A” hardware in 2015) when they upended the top-seeded Knights, 14-6!! Relying on splendid collective efforts from their defensive and special teams units, the Clippers did a remarkable job in learning from
